[EN] LibreOffice Conf Asia x UbuCon Asia 2023 in Surakarta, Indonesia
This is a glimpse of the experience of participating in and becoming a local organizer of LibreOffice Conf Asia x UbuCon Asia 2023.
LibreOffice Conf Asia x UbuCon Asia 2023 (LOUCA23) is the first Asian Open Source conference event for me, coincidentally the host is in the city of Surakarta, Indonesia.
Before the Event
Before this event started, our community was contacted by several seniors from Ubuntu and LibreOffice, who said it was possible that there would be a conference event agenda in Indonesia, but Surakarta was still a strong candidate for the venue for both events.
And in the end Surakarta was chosen as the venue after deliberation from several senior Indonesian LibreOffice and Ubuntu communities.
RoadShow and Community Gathering
Several weeks before the event started, we and the Solo Linux community held a kind of meetup, LOUCA23 roadshow, and community gathering in several places, especially campuses, in order to capture the interest and enthusiasm of participants among pupils, students, teachers and lecturers.
Day 1 Conference
This first day I was very busy, as a local team organizer who was tasked with handling and monitoring several activities in the main hall, lobby, participant registration and the speaker transit room.
The conference theme that I listened to in the main hall session on the first day was “Calc to Explore the Data of a Popular MOBA Game” by Mr Andik Nur Ahmad.
During the event I also met several LibreOffice seniors, Mr. Shokibi and Mr. Andika Tri Widada.

Dinner Party Day 1
Dinner with the committee team and speakers at a fairly well-known restaurant in Solo, namely Palm Ethnic Resto.
And this is my favorite menu, Javanese noodles, shrimp and sweet and sour gurami :)
Day 2 Conference
On the second day I attended the main hall session where the material was “History of Ubuntu-ID Community from beginning until today” by Mr. Hadi Sutedjo, a veteran of Ubuntu Indonesia
And here I take part in handling the presentation operator :)
Dinner Party Day 2
Dinner on day 2 was at a quite famous restaurant in Surakarta, namely “Tirai Bamboe Resto”.
And tonight there are several special things, including Youngbin Han’s birthday haha…
Oneday Tour
It’s a shame I didn’t take part in the walking session around the city :) , because of work, but I was quite happy to see people from abroad walking around the city of Solo.
